stick 'em up
Dry Point Copper Engraving

This print was basically a copy of an earlier sketch with a few minor additions.  The majority of characters in my sketches are usually similar to human form, but distinctively different.  Often times they end up taking an idealized robotical form.  If one thinks about it, the human body is equal to that of a robot but just a little softer.  So the physical purpose of the human body is equal to that of a machine.  A series of gadgets and whatnot working together in a larger form.

The concept behind this image deals with the struggle of identity.  The robot figure has realized through his struggle with reality that he is no greater different than most mechanisms.  Here, in a state of panic and confusion he is threatened by another mechanical object.

The idea of self and individuality has been attempted to be defined over the ages by philosophers and religious/authoritative leaders, yet we being the complex machines that we are have yet to give a clear definition.  Until then we remain in a state of confusion and paranoia of who we are and the make up of this reality.
